Phone Pic Catch Up

If you are not reading the Iowa Girl Eats blog...you are missing out.  I have made so many new meals from her recipies.  A couple of weeks ago, I made her Cheesy Chicken and Rice soup.  I learned a lesson that night... Don't try a new recipe while working on homework with one child, and valentines with the other two.  It was supposed to turn out thick and creamy... mine was a bit on the runny side and looked a little off, but still tasted delicious.  The week before Valentine's Day she posted her Brownie Mix Truffles recipe, and then happen to catch her making them on the morning news.  While Ainsley's diet mostly consists of chocolate chip cookies and Happy Meals, she will happily take on the role as Chief Spatula Licker when needed.  Our truffles weren't the prettiest (read:  I stepped back and let the girls make them)  but they tasted heavenly.  I made sure to have several just to be sure.  On Valentine's Day, RB and the big girls had softball practice so while they were gone, I made her Skillet Chicken Parmesan and it might be one of my new favorite recipes.

Addi's class at school had a Valentine's Day party and I offered to come in and help make their Valentine's Day floats.  (In case you are wondering, floats were made of vanilla ice cream, Strawberry pop, and whip cream).   Of course, I had to take my little tag-a-long with me.  Either she wasn't impressed with 2nd Grade parties... or her sugar rush from her party (earlier that morning) had just worn off.  She slept through so. much. noise.

Our un-official House Building Supervisor needed a mani.

Or would you call it a pedi?

She went last week to the Vet Spa for a bath and her mani/pedi...although, don't be too jealous.  Hers included one extra service that no human would appreciate.  Ha!

 Our professional Daddy Daughter dance pictures came in the mail.  I thought they turned out great!  RB told me that (cousin) Maggie was making faces behind the photographer to get the girls to smile -- worked great!

The girls had Friday off from school and again today for a teacher inservice.

I have never been more ready for a Tuesday.  Ha!

All this talk about the big snow storm headed our way for the end of this week...  I really, really hope the weather forecasters are wrong and we don't get a half of foot of snow.  We are already going until June 4th and I don't want to add any more snow days on to the end of the year.

I want share a couple of funnies from last week....

I received this email from Addi's teacher:

Hi Lisa,

Since you are coming to the Valentine's Party on Thursday you definitely don't need to come in the morning.  I am actually somewhat caught up right now and the laminater is broken!   Not by you either!
And she included a smiley face.  Ha!  

And then this...
On the way home from gymnastics, Ainsley saw a cemetery (the same one we've driven by every week on our way to and from gymnastics)... and this was our conversation:

Ainsley:  Thems dead in there.

Me:  Yes.  That's the cemetery.

Ainsley:  Bears eat people.  Bears eat people dead.

Me.  Uh. Yea?

Ainsley:  Bears are big and strong and eat people dead.  Gramma Mac knows lots of dead people.  Bears ate her people.

Me:  ::dying laughing::

I guess my advice to you would be... don't be one of Gramma Mac's peoples or be prepared to be eaten by a bear.
